Our Great British partnerships

We’ve teamed up with some of Britain’s best loved sports to help create a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Powering positive change in our communities

At British Gas, we want to power positive change – in our homes and in our communities. But we know we can’t do it alone. So we’ve teamed up with some of the best loved sports to help.

Together, we’ll inspire Britain to make greener choices every day. And we’re giving communities much-needed support to cut their carbon emissions – and boost opportunities for local people too.

Team GB & ParalympicsGB

We’re powering the communities behind the athletes in the lead up to the Paris 2024 games, and beyond. With our campaign led by Tom Daley, Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Ellie Simmonds, we aim to get even more people lowering their emissions and saving on bills.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Create a free Get Set for Positive Energy programme to teach up to 1 million children and families across the UK about greener energy use.
  • Support and inspire future athletes by taking them to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Scottish Football Association

In partnership with the Scottish FA, we’re creating a more sustainable and inclusive future for Scottish football. As well as helping local clubs reduce their carbon impact, we’re also supercharging existing initiatives to get more young people playing across Scotland – whatever their ability.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • 120 new holiday camps across Scotland to help combat ‘holiday hunger’.
  • Work with Scottish Para-Football to expand their disability community initiatives.
  • Create a net zero sustainability programme for all grassroots clubs.

Scottish Rugby Union

We’ve teamed up with the SRU for a greener Scotland. That means helping over 130 rugby clubs reduce their energy use by half. And transforming Scottish Gas Murrayfield, the home of Scottish Rugby, into a leading example of energy efficiency. Plus, as shirt sponsor for the Scotland Women’s Team, we’ll boost inclusivity and fund more opportunities for girls in the sport.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Help cut emissions by over 50% across Scottish clubs, starting with Murrayfield.
  • Create a £2million Club & Community Net Zero Fund to make Scottish rugby more sustainable.
  • Support and develop women’s rugby, from youth teams to Scotland’s Women’s squad.
